Creative Refuge brings forward the experience of three workshops working with children at Beit Atfal Assomoud, Burj El Barajne Palestinian refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon. The publication is a research catalog of the collected children’s stories, dreams, play spaces, and related family histories as well as a research document of the social and spatial findings of the three workshops.

Scholars Pledge to Boycott UIUC Over the Firing of Steven Salaita

On 6 August, Inside Higher Ed reported that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) had rescinded a job offer to Steven G. Salaita, who was set to begin a tenured position in the American Indian Studies program this month. The article quoted “sources familiar with the university’s decision” as saying that the rescinding of Salaita’s job offer was due to the “tone” of comments that he had made on social media regarding Israel’s most recent attack on Gaza.

It focuses on Palestinian hip hop and the youth movement that emerged in 2011 as overlapping sites where new cultural and political imaginaries are being produced in the Oslo generation (jil Oslo).
